A man and a resident of Barkwoyo cell Adekokwok Ward, Lira-City East Division named Odil Tonny, has killed his biological brother Ogwang Jasper aged, 30, over a debt of shillings 150,000/-
S.P Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga regional police publicist confirmed the incident to Radio Kioga FM saying it happened on Friday 11th September 2026 at around 3:00 pm as reported by Oteng Jonathan aged 31 years a resident of the same area.
Okema, says police preliminary findings indicates that on the 11th September 2026 at about 3:00pm hours while at Barkwoyo Cell, the deceased went demanding for his money worth 150,000shs. that his brother Odil Tonny had borrowed to buy Iron sheets, however it had taken long for him to pay back, in the process, they started quarrelling, that culminated into a fight and Odil, now the suspect picked a hoe and hit Ogwang on the head, hence collapsing and reportedly died on spot.
Police was informed and a case file registered at Lira-City East Division, and a team later led by Division CID, Scene of Crime officer, Crime Intelligence Officer and others visited the scene and had statements recorded from the witnesses.
Okema, says the suspect fled and is still at large, but advised him to hand over himself to any police facility to avoid being lynched by community members.
Meanwhile, the deceased body was picked and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending postmortem examination.
