There was controversy during Baraza at Namasale sub county between the education and engineering department of Amolatar over the fallen Olyaka primary school pit latrine that was fully paid for, but collapsed before commissioning.
The issue was raised by residents who said the pupil at the school have started sharing latrines with teachers which exposes them health risks and disrespect for teachers.
The district inspector of schools for Amolatar James Tita says despite the project being funded and fully paid for during the former district education officer Josephine Acen Okullo tenure, the district engineering department are solely responsible for recommending projects.
However, Dick Ongom the district road inspector for Amolatar who was also representing the district engineer at the Baraza, told the gathering that it is solely the department under which work is being undertaken to recommend payment in their different departments and so the education should take charge of the collapsed latrine.
The chief administrative officer Rhoda Oroma, intervened and directed that a committee be set to investigate the matter.
Meanwhile at Bangala parish development model (PDM) Sacco there was also complain of extortion and theft of national identity card by the leaders to acquire the fund.
Molly Awor, a resident and would be beneficiary, told the gathering that funds were given to dead people using their national IDs and sim cards, and many people from other parishes and district.
The furious Awor, expressed dismay at police whom she accused that after reporting the matter, they arrested the suspects but released all without recovering the money.
The district police commander of Amolatar SP John Mafabi, acknowledge receiving the matter saying they prepared the file and submitted to the resident state attorney (RSA) for advice and promised to followed up with the state attorney office.
However the district chairperson Morish Ogwal Omara, directed the police and resident state attorney to speed up the process and vowed to report the matter to the head of the institutions outlined.
