Agwata sub county chairperson in Dokolo district, Morish Okao KG has warned locals against inviting false prophets and or Pastors to conduct healing prayers in their homes.
Okaos’ warning follows an incident where a 44-year-old man with disability has been admitted at Dokolo HC IV after a false Prophet forcefully tried to straighten bowed legs by massage.
Denis Akora (44), a resident of Olekoceke village, Alyecjuk parish in Agwata Sub county is said to have had the disability from birth, but is able to move from one place to another doing domestic activities to cater for his wife, Dilish Akora and their six children.
However, it’s reported that on the 7th Aug 2026, a neighbour to Akora invited a certain quack prophet from Abu-tadi, Lira district district, to conduct prayers in his home.
While praying, the “Prophet” who claimed to be possessed by the holy spirit, grabbed Akora claiming to cast out demonic spirits that caused his disability. He reportedly stepped on all body parts so as to straighten the bent legs, hence causing injuries.
Akora was subsequently admitted for treatment at Dokolo HC IV.
The LC III chairperson has therefore warned locals in Agwata Sub county to desist from culture of inviting false prophets for healing rituals.
Morrish Alal, the LC1 chairperson of Olekoceke village, said the prayer was carried out without their notice, expressing concerns over the behavior of the “prophet”
Meanwhile Rev. Moses Alal of the Pentecotal Assemblies of God has condemned such “prophets”, saying they are confusing Christians.
While on his sickbed at Dokolo HC IV, Akora narrated to our reporter the painful ordeal that led to his admission to the facility, revealing that the acts of the “prophet” caused serious injuries, making him unable to walk and appealed for support from well-wishers.
